Women in the Trades - A Day in the Life

Support Ontario Youth and Women in HVAC*R Canada are proud to present a free 1 day event for women interested in entering the skilled trades. The Women in the Trades - A Day in the Life event is designed to help reduce barriers to women entering the trades, by providing knowledge and insight, networking opportunities and support to women interested in a career in the skilled trades.


When: Wednesday, May 4, 2022

Registration: 8:30 a.m.

Event Time: 9:00 am. to 1:00pm

Networking Lunch: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where: 50 Ronson Drive, Suite 180, Etobicoke, Ontario


Eligibility

  • Women who have a strong interest in entering the skilled trades

  • 18+ years old

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

How to Apply: Click here to complete our online assessment and apply. The assessment will help determine those who qualify to attend this event. If selected to attend, SOY will be in contact.


Attendees will hear from industry leaders, connect with other women in the trades, learn about barriers and how to overcome them, understand the apprenticeship pathway, network with employers and find out about industry specific tools, safety attire and clothing designed to suit women. Opportunities exist to be potentially be signed on as an apprentice with SOY as a Sponsor.


The event includes complimentary refreshments and lunch, a swag bag for each participant, raffle draw, and an opportunity to network. Employers from the area, as well as Support Ontario Youth Staff, will be onsite to answer questions and offer guidance and assistance in the apprenticeship process.
