About the Event
*** UPDATE - Jan 30 2023 ***
Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled due to a death in the family of the Teacher. It will be rescheduled for sometime in February and we will e-mail all attendees a confirmation. We apologize for this sudden change in schedule.
This training is designed to give an understanding of the historical and socio-cultural life of Indigenous people in Canada. It is important to understand the historical context which form many of the current dialogues of Indigenous people and their relationship to and within Canada. Participants in general will gain an appreciation for the many ways Indigenous people have contributed and will continue to contribute to Canada. The presentation is meant to create a safe space where learning can take place for all participants. Throughout the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to dialogue in group discussions.
Presented by the Aboriginal Apprenticeship Board of Ontario (AABO), this half-day workshop takes participants on a journey through Indigenous history to contemporary issues. The thought-provoking workshop is presented from an Indigenous point of view and is aimed at increasing awareness.
Cost of course is covered by the OBCT.
