About the Event
The first session will be 6:00pm Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 and the following session will be 1:00pm Saturday, September 25th, 2021. Both sessions will take place virtually via Zoom.
In the world of instant global conversation, knowing how to make your point concisely and quickly is expected. Strong communications skills help to inspire and influence decision makers and teams.
Level 1 - 2 hours on Zoom
• Build confidence and capacity in:
Speaking in front of large and small groups or with key decision makers.
o Large forum
o Meetings and Boards
o Peers and colleagues
o Clients/Employers
o Government and Stakeholder representatives
• A high level look at:
• Organizing thoughts and points quickly and effectively.
• Delivering messages effectively.
• Establishing genuine connection with audiences – one on one and group.
• Developing comfort and confidence.
• Improve diction, enunciation, projection and overall appearance.
• Body language.
Level 2 will expand on these and new public speaking and presenting skills.
Then rounded off for course completion with an introduction to media and social media training.
If you complete the three levels - 6 hours in total you will receive a certificate of completion and proficiency in Public Speaking and Presenting.

Jennifer has been in business since 1986, providing a wide range of communications services, most notably, strategic planning and implementation, media training, presentation and performance coaching, documentaries and videos, news releases, and writing for all purposes. She specializes in workshops on media relations and government-relations communications.
Jennifer has the rare insight borne of having experienced life from both sides of the microphone. After spending more than two decades working in television, radio and print journalism, Jennifer became the Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Stoney Creek. She was immediately appointed as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Culture and Vice Chair of the Cabinet Committee on Communications. She also served on the Education Policy Cabinet Committee, the Standing Committees on Justice and Legislative Assembly, and as Chair of the South Central Caucus.
Jennifer became a household name in the Golden Horseshoe as a reporter, producer and principal anchor with CHCH. Jennifer later joined CBC Television News as an anchor and writer.
She produces documentaries, shows, and videos, including a successful travel series and contributions to the Discovery Channel. As a columnist for the Hamilton Spectator, she analyzed the media and won the Reader's Choice Awards for a special series on the humourous journey to motherhood, over forty. She was a special contributor to the Toronto Sun's election coverage.
