October 18th: Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day

Did you know that today is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day?

The Ontario Building and Construction Tradeswomen is committed to ensuring that all women are able to thrive within their skilled trades careers.

In our 2022 Tradeswomen survey we discovered that for many working women, childcare can present a huge barrier to employment .

While construction work is often mobile - childcare waitlists can be months long to secure placement.

While conventional jobsites open between 6-7AM - most childcare centers do not open until much later in the morning.

And where a childcare placement can represent a cost of $1000+/month - the financial barrier is significant, especially to apprentices who are new to the industry.

Join us in bringing awareness to the barriers that still exist, but also to appreciate the childcare workers who make the careers of working parent's possible!
